The Textile Dye Garden at Pratt is seeking applicants for work study employment for Summer 2023
The garden serves as a teaching resource and laboratory, integrating with the Institute at large to host tours, workshops, events and open workdays.
In addition to garden work, Summer crew will learn the fundamentals of Natural Dyes, their properties and applications, through staff workshops and experimentation opportunities throughout the summer.

The position is very hands-on!
Garden crew will spend time digging, planting, weeding, harvesting and extracting dye for use in workshops and special projects.
Hours:
Work study students must commit 15-20 hours per week (at least 3 two hour shifts per week, 1 mandatory 3 hour session every Sunday)
Work begins at the start of the Summer season (mid May).
Hours will be scheduled collaboratively to accommodate various outside work, travel and internship commitments.
Flexibility is required as the cultivation and care of the plants is our main priority.
The work study crew is required to:
Commit to the maintenance and success of the garden
Have knowledge of or the ability to learn how to garden
Have a strong interest in learning about Natural Dye plants
Work collaboratively with crew and faculty leads
Communicate in a timely manner, through emails and a group text
Document the 2023 growing season for record keeping and promotional purposes
Creatively problem solve
Take initiative in suggesting and leading projects, workshops and collaborations
