DIGITAL PLANT ARCHIVE
Welcome to the digital plant archive.
Starting in 2024, specimens of each year's harvest are pressed, labelled, archived in our physical Botanical Archive Books, scanned, and then uploaded to this site as an ever-growing library of our plants. Click a plant's ID number for a closer look at the specimen.
Here's a breakdown of how our ID numbers work, identifying the plant by its use, variety, and both year and season it was harvested:
[use].[scientific name].[year and season collected].[number collected]
In the "use" section of the number, "1" refers to plants primarily used for dyes, "2" refers to plants primarily used as herbs, and "3" refers to plants used primarily for decorative purposes.
The "scientific name" section converts the scientific names of plants into a series of numbers. The common and scientific names of each plant can be found beneath the ID number of each specimen.
The "year and season collected" section begins with the year of collection, and the following number refers to the season. "1" refers to Spring, "2" to Summer, "3" to Fall, and "4" to Winter.
We often collect more than one specimen of a plant of a time, so the "number collected" simply differentiates each plant of a shared variety and collection season from one another.
